Farm to Freeze is a family business and the current owner, Martyn Redpath runs the business with his wife Judith.
The business was started by Martyn and his father at Weetwood Farm Wooler in July 1984 as a butcher shop on the farm selling meat packs for the freezer - hence the name - Farm to Freeze!
As the business grew they moved from the farm and into Wooler taking over the old garage on South Road and transforming it into a butchers shop and taking on extra staff. Jeff Carr joined at this time and is now Manager of the South Road shop.
The butchery went from strength to strength and many local hotels began to have their meat supplied by us.
The catering unit and shop were completely refurbished to the highest specifications.
In 2003 we started to stock dry goods to deliver to the hotels we were supplying with meat. As this side of the business grew so did the requirement for storage space so the Foodservices side of the business moved to larger premises on the Wooler Industrial Estate and ultimately to the Ramparts Business Park in Berwick.
At this point the storage unit at the side of the property was converted into a convenience store and we joined the Nisa-Today’s buying group to provide groceries to the local community at keen prices. The store is managed by local husband and wife team, Terry and Liz Redpath. They aim to provide a friendly place to shop with helpful staff and try to stock the basics every household requires.
